Summary

A publishing house might not always give prime consideration to the maintenance of a press, although the regular publication of a daily newspaper requires a press always ready to operate. However, well planned and controlled maintenance is an essential part of the technical function. The IFRA Rotary Press Committee has always considered the maintenance aspect as an important factor in its activities. This checklist is a compendium of the different instructions and guide-lines of all the press manufacturers who are represented in this commit- tee. It will help in the modification of an existing maintenance checklist or else form the basis for establishing a new one according to the printing house’s own experience and with the additional assistance of the press manufacturer. Even if not all items of this list are valid for each rotary press, it surely will offer many useful suggestions. Originally, this maintenance list was intended to cover an additional part of the IFRA Rotary Press Guide. In order to render these data accessible to a circle as broad as possible, the committee decided to publish it as a Special Report.
